This is one of my favorite images and in print. I spent at least 50-60 hours on this painting, working out the perspective. Richard Hendrickson was born in Bridgehampton in 1913, and grew up on his family farm. Beside his duties as a farmer collecting eggs, milking cows and cutting hay he was a record holding ’80-year member’ of the Weather Service’s Corps of Cooperative Observers, a network established in 1890 to help track meteorological data, usually consisting of daily maximum and minimum temperatures, snowfall, and 24-hour precipitation totals, required to define the climate of the United States and to help measure long-term climate changes.

This view is taken from the front side of the old farmhouse or the side looking north.  The house still looks much the same today, a testament to the new owner who prefers to leave the property much like the farm as it always was.

Original: Oil on birch panel, 28” x 22”, price available on request.
