The coast of Maine is sometimes shrouded in mist and fog. The Silence of Owls represents the calm treachery of a mariner’s nightmare. But with the sound of a fog bell’s warning it’s possible to find safe passage home. Located on the peninsula just below Rockland, Maine, Owl’s Head Light Station sits high on a cliff guarding the entrance to Rockland Harbor. A 30’ light tower rises 100 feet above sea level. Owl’s Head has witnessed many shipwrecks and has been the subject of much sea lore.

The original is in a private collection.
